Courtesy of the Seabee Quarterly: "Members of NSVA Island X-1, Gulfport, Miss., recently honored Vietnam-era Seabees who served with Gulfport-based Seabee units. The Mississippi Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, Miss., was the location for the construction and placement of a monument listing the units homeported in Gulfport during the war. Riemann Family Funeral Homes manufactured the monument, and the base was constructed by members of the Island led by retired UCCM Al Synowiez and retired CUCM Dick Wade. Both are Vietnam veterans, while Wade also served during World War II." Read more
