Byron White

1990 — January 1, 2020

St. Martin

Byron Anthony White, age 29, of St. Martin passed away on May 16, 2020.

Byron was born in Amory, Mississippi on October 4, 1990, while his father (Charles White) was stationed at Columbus AFB, Mississippi. Byron lived in Ackerman, Mississippi, next to his grandparents (Doyle & Ruth Tennyson) while his Dad had an assignment to South Korea for one year. Byron moved again with his family in December 1992 to Keesler AFB, Mississippi.

Byron attended St. Martin Schools from Kindergarten through his Senior year in 2009. Byron made many friends throughout the years at St. Martin. He loved playing youth football and basketball with many of his friends. Byron was an ROTC Cadet at St. Martin High School. He always enjoyed his classmates and his teacher (Master Sergeant Joseph "Sarge" Souza).

Byron enjoyed family vacations; Disney World, Universal, Six Flags over Texas, and Branson, Missouri. He always talked about the Six Flags water park and the Major League Baseball game that they attended during our vacation. He loved his trip to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to visit all the Civil War grave sites his senior year.

After Byron graduated in 2009; he served in the Army as a fuel specialist in Savannah, Georgia and South Korea. He completed his enlistment and returned to Vancleave, Mississippi.

Byron got the experience of driving heavy-duty trucks in the military, so his new job was getting his CDL License to drive 18 Wheeler Semi-Trucks. He loved driving cross-country from Mississippi to New York and California to South Carolina, meeting new people, and seeing the wonderful lands across the United States.

Byron loved his family with all his heart. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted young man that tried to help anyone in need, especially his family and friends. Byron always gave his parents and family a hug and an, "I love you," when he departed home. Those were the last words that we heard from Byron...a true Blessing.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virgil and Burtie White; his maternal grandparents, Chris Daniel Sammons and Betty Ruth Sammons Tennyson and Doyle Tennyson; uncles, Robert Maxey and Emmett Norwood, Jr.; aunt, Darlene Sammons.

He is survived by his parents, Charles V. and Ruth Ann White; brother, Charles Raymond White and his wife Tiffany Jo White; uncles, Chris Sammons, Jr., and Forrest Sammons; aunts, Sylvia Thibodeaux, Mary Elizabeth Maxey, and Lisa Sammons; nephews, Sean White, and Austin White; and an extended family.
