Sandra M. McGrew

February 1, 1945 — October 29, 2023

Vancleave, MS

Sandra M. (nee Havens) Johnson McGrew - A sister, aunt and friend, has left us with heavy hearts but countless beautiful memories. Born on February 1, 1945, in Pascagoula, MS, Sandra was a remarkable woman who brought joy and compassion to everyone she encountered. She peacefully departed from this world on October 29, 2023, in Benndale, MS, after bravely battling cancer.

Sandra's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to others. She touched the lives of many during her long career at Kmart where her hard work and friendly nature made her an invaluable asset. Her colleagues and customers alike were drawn to her warm personality and willingness to go above and beyond to help those around her.

Graduating from Vancleave High School as part of the Class of 1963, Sandra always valued education and placed great importance on learning. Throughout her life, she continued to seek knowledge and share it with others.

Outside of work and education, Sandra found solace in the simplicity of life's pleasures. One could often find her sitting on her back porch, overlooking the peaceful pond in her backyard—a serene spot where she would reflect on the beauty of nature and find tranquility in its presence.

In her leisure time, Sandra enjoyed the company of her friends and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was engaging in heartfelt conversations or sharing laughter over a friendly game at the casino, Sandra's friends were a vital part of her life.

Sandra was an extraordinary individual whose kindness radiated effortlessly. She possessed an innate ability to empathize with others' struggles and offered a helping hand whenever it was needed. Her selflessness knew no bounds as she went out of her way to make a positive impact on those less fortunate—an admirable quality that influenced those around her and inspired acts of compassion and generosity.

Sandra's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy lives on through the memories she created with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Jerry Johnson; her second husband Gene McGrew; her parents W. Shepard and Velma (nee Housley) Havens; her brothers Billy Ray Havens and infant brother Mark Havens; and a sister Annette Sumral whom she joins in eternal rest.

She will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of her surviving family: her brother Dan (Connie) Havens; stepson Daniel (Nancy) McGrew; several nieces and nephews whose lives were enriched by Sandra's constant love and support.

Sandra M. McGrew will always be remembered for her unwavering spirit, compassionate soul, and genuine desire to make a difference in the world. Her presence brought warmth to even the darkest corners, forever leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Rest peacefully now, dear Sandra M. McGrew. Your vibrant spirit will forever reside within our hearts.
