Jesse Perrett

Jesse Newton "Jan" Perrett II of Gulfport, MS, passed away Sunday March 4, at age 80. Born in New Orleans on July 26 1937, he was the son of the late Jesse Newton Perrett, Sr., and Alys Martha Delcuze Perrett of Gulfport, MS.
Jan lived his early years in New Orleans before his parents decided to move back to their home state of Mississippi, settling on the Gulf Coast where his mother had been raised.
He graduated from Gulfport High School in 1957, then returned to New Orleans to enroll at Tulane University, from which he graduated in 1966 with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Jan retired from the Mississippi Power Company, a Southern Company, in Gulfport after 26 years of service. In retirement, Jan joined Land Surveying Inc., the company founded by his father-in-law, Ottis Carl Davis, and inherited by son Richard.
In addition to his parents, Jan was preceded in death by a son, John Gregory Perrett; his beloved wife of 15 years, Kaye Mohon Perrett; two stepsons, Lex Mohon, Jr., and Keith Mohon; a brother, Marvin J. Perrett; and his first wife, Martha Davis Perrett, from whom he was divorced.
He is survived by two sons, Jan Carlton Perrett, with life companion Stefan Seiler, of Paris, France, and Richard Davis Perrett of Gulfport; granddaughters, Julia Lynn Perrett of Hattiesburg and Rachel Dawn Perrett Walters of Long Beach; a sister, Judy Perrett Lenoir, of Freeport, FL; and beloved nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held at 12 o'clock noon, Friday, March 9, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport, MS .
Friends and family may visit in the sanctuary 30 minutes prior to the services and interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jan's honor would be greatly appreciated to Tulane University, P.O.Box 61075, New Orleans, LA 70161-9986, or a charity of your choice.
