Timothy Baker

April 1, 1959 — March 22, 2022

Mobile

Reverend Timothy Peter Baker, age 62, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile.
Reverend Tim, a Vermonter, was born Jeffrey Michael Gleason in Granville, New York (the nearest hospital), on April 1st, 1959 (Wednesday’s Child), to Jacqueline Gleason and adopted through the Elizabeth Lund Home (now the Lund Family Center) in Burlington, Vermont.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife and love of a lifetime, Robin (Lundgren) Baker (she was also Wednesday’s Child); his beloved adoptive parents, Henry Crine “Hank” “Pop” Baker and Hazel “Gloria” Marie (Donnelly) Baker, affectionately known as “Gram”; his birth mother, Jacqueline Gleason (Field), his beloved father-in-law, Dr. Richard Ptak Lundgren, Colonel, USAF, Retired; his sister, Jeanne Marie Baker (Gleason-Field); and his law enforcement mentors, David Sanders and Jay Winters.
Reverend Tim is survived by his beloved mother-in-law Dorothy (Ericson) Lundgren; his brother Douglas R. Gleason; his children, Kristina (Patrick) Dunn, Kenneth (Misty) Wood, and Michael Baker, MBA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sydney Dunn, Tracy Dunn, Rily Dunn, and Ian Wood; his great grandchildren, Lilly Dunn and Liam Dunn; his nephew Christopher (Sara) Baker; and many other family members and numerous friends especially Michael Johnston, Todd Kottmyer, Michael Leist, Barbara Steward, Mary Vickers, Joe Worley, Joe Paul, and his advanced degree mentor Dr. Leslie Steverson.
Reverend Tim was called to the service of our Lord and accepted ordination on October 12th, 2003 (Columbus Day – another who sailed uncharted waters). His ordination was within the law in the continental United States (he even held a ministerial card from the State of Louisiana). He attended Grissom High School (Class of ’77) in Huntsville, Alabama, and Pascagoula High School (Class of ’77) in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi (Bachelors in Criminal Justice - BS), William Carey University (Masters in Education - MEd), and attended NOVA Southeastern University (Doctorate in Leadership - ABD). Reverend Tim was inducted into Alpha Theta Chi (collegiate honor society). He also graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (where he tied for second place in firearms), the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Academy, the US Army Military Police School (“To the Regiment”), the US Army CID course, and the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs Police Academy (where he was appointed as “Leader of the Class” by the instructors).  Reverend Tim spent decades serving with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; he also served in corporate security, and then taught school after the death of his dear wife (because his youngest child – to whom he has been mother and father, both, for decades - was only 9 at the time of his mother’s death). He was licensed to teach in Alabama and Mississippi (Business, Collaborative, Physical Education, Special Education, Social Sciences, and Social Studies). He was Board Certified, Internationally, in Security Management (CPP), as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and as a Certified Protection Officer (CPO). Reverend Tim was a Life Member of ASIS International (one of less than 400, Worldwide, when he was appointed) and a recipient of their prestigious Quarter Century Award for his dedicated service, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association where he was certified as a Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, a Life Member of the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association, a Friend of Carey, a Partner in Hope, and a long time supporter of Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. Reverend Tim served a total of 20 years (enlisting at age 17) in the US Army and US Army Reserve, where he was assigned, first, in the Artillery (Fire Direction, Liaison, and Operations), then, in Military Intelligence (Counter Intelligence Agent), as Noncommissioned Officer, and, finally, in the Military Police (as an MP Supervisor – he was one of the few people, in modern times, to receive a Direct Appointment as a Commissioned Officer). While serving in the military he completed two tours on the Iron Curtain (during the Cold War – “us watching them and them watching us”) and received an Honorable Discharge with a Good Conduct Medal. Reverend Tim served a total of 28 1/2 years as a federal civilian in various law enforcement positions. He traced his heritage to the Abenaki Tribe of Vermont.
Reverend Tim will be buried, next to his dear wife Robin (Together Again), with full Military Honors, at the Biloxi National Cemetery (62-115), 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, Mississippi, on MAY 2, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Procession will leave from the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.
Rev. Dr. Alan Baker will officiate the service (no relation but they attended high school together).  Mourners welcome.  John 8:7.
