Sonia Scott

d. January 10, 2020

Sonia Winifred (Kemp) Scott, age 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 10, 2020 in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Born April 28, 1939, in Braintree, Essex England, Sonia arrived to the United States in 1960, and although she lived most of her life in the States and dearly loved this country, she remained a British citizen and deeply tied to her English roots and traditions which she often shared with her family.
Sonia married the love of her life, Robert Walter Scott, in 1976 and together two families were joined by love, not by their genes. Sonia loved her family and instilled strong values that continue to serve us all well. She will be dearly missed and will live on forever in our hearts.
Sonia was an avid reader, devoured anything raspberry, was always her happiest and most peaceful when by the water, enjoyed playing the slots, loved watching her British television shows and listening and dancing to ‘50s and ‘60s music, and everyone knew her love for Elvis Presley was real. Her thirst for traveling and curiosity about what was around the next corner was strong and even though she never learned to drive a car, she managed to travel the world. When asked, our Mum always maintained that climbing Mount Sinai at age 60 with Robert was one of her life’s greatest highlights.
Unfortunately, Sonia was predeceased by her loving husband in 2001. She was also predeceased by her parents, Walter and Louise Kemp; her brothers, William and Philip Kemp; her sister, Shirley Walkling; and her grandson, Tyler Grisham.
Sonia is survived by her six children, Rocky (Shelly) Kadilak of Akron, Ohio, Wendy (Rodney) Scott of Milford, Ohio, Roberta (Timothy) Grisham of Biloxi, Mississippi, Paul (Becky) Kadilak of Bryan, Texas, Sandy (Scott) Purcell of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Pamela (Charles) Scott of Biloxi, Mississippi; her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana, Sean, Samantha, Kasey, Bryan, Brittany, Sonia Haley, Skyler, Travis, Carter, Liza, and Allison; her great-grandchildren who lovingly called her SuperNan, Landon, Lawson, Lily, Dakota, Blake-Leigh, Aubrey, Avery, Wayne, Wyatt, Morgan, Rheagan, Ryker, Maddon, Jason, and Daniela; her sister, Roberta (Dave) Tate of Colonial Heights, Virginia; her brother, Robin (Pansy) Kemp of Braintree, Essex England; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved deeply and who she always knew loved her back.
Sonia will be missed by her closest and dearest lifelong friends.
At Sonia’s request, there will be no services held. She will be cremated and her family has chosen to gather and spread her ashes in various locations that were near and dear to her heart. Our family and friends are forever grateful that she left this earth peacefully. We have no doubt though her body is gone, her spirit and legacy will live on amongst us all.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is serving the family.
