Sharon McNair

Sharon Lynn (Cameron) McNair, age 59 of Richton, MS, passed away on June 27, 2020.

Our world has lost a star, but heaven gained an angel.

Sharon was born on November 13, 1960, to Jackie and Sharon Cameron. She was loved beyond measure. She grew up in Long Beach MS, but resided in Gulfport most of her adult life. She fought a debilitating illness for nearly 40 years, although many may have never known, as she conquered every battle she faced with unwavering strength and grace. Her family is eternally grateful to Dr. Douglas Lanier for taking such amazing care of her for so so many years. She was an actress, pianist, professional photographer, restoration artist, quilter, amazing cook, loved her puppies and kittens, and enjoyed all the beautiful nature at her home in Richton, that she shared with her beloved husband, Michael, which she referred to as "Heaven".

Sharon graced the theatre stage most of her life, and starred in, since 1986, thirty shows at Center Stage, Biloxi. For over thirty years, audiences were entertained by her immense talent. She was the absolute best Wife, Mama, Grammie and Friend that we could have possibly been blessed with and she will be deeply missed, always. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackie and Sharon Cameron; her beloved Aunt Karleen Lawrence and Uncle Bill Lawrence.

Her survivors include her husband, Michael McNair; her children, Heather Dauzat (Hunt), Rebecca Lee McNair (Brandon); her grandchildren, Gracie Alford, Madelyn Dauzat, Cooper Lee, and Annabelle Lee; her "chosen" sister (and very best friend), Sandee Lawrence; and her "chosen" children, Jennifer Brown, Casey Leigh Ferguson and Mason Lain.

Due to the state mandated restrictions and the threat of the COVID-19 virus, the family has decided to postpone any formal gathering (memorial service). We do not wish to exclude even one person who loved Sharon due to capacity restrictions, nor do we want to take the risk of exposure for anyone. The theatre will hold an event, as well, in her honor so please stay connected with Center Stage Biloxi, so that you can join us in celebrating this amazing woman, when we are able to gather again.

Rest assured that we will have the memorial service as well as the event at the theatre, but we must wait for now.

To quote a line from her unforgettable performance as Julie Cavendish (prima donna Broadway star) in

“The Royal Family”:

“Oh, by being the star. They wait for me.”

And wait we shall.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers or any other tribute, that donations be made to Center Stage Biloxi (centerstagebiloxi.org), where you can see her beautiful smile again and read the tribute. She poured her heart and soul onto that stage all of those years. Let us help her second home, her theatre, her stage, the lifeline to her art.

To know her was to love her, to see her perform… well that was nothing short of an amazing privilege.

Center Stage was, and is, her “Broadway”.

More important than the many accomplishments in her life, she was a beautiful soul, inside and out. She loved Christ and loved people wholeheartedly. To know her was to love her. We look forward to the day when we see her again. This time in between is simply an intermission.
