Obituary

Sally Romero, age 87, of Biloxi, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Sally was born in Hattiesburg to Shelton Lee and Sarah Helen Fowler.  Sally was a member of Sandyland Garden Club and Sunkist Garden Club, and she was a founding member and third president of the Gulfport Area Garden Club. A lover of Mardi Gras, she served as the third captain of the Krewe of Athena, served as the founding captain of Krewe of Hera, and was a member and past-captain of Billikin’s. Sally served her community as a poll worker for over forty years, and in her spare time, she enjoyed singing karaoke and singing in the choir.  Gardening, working around the yard, and arranging flowers were some of her favorite things to do.

Sally helped create beautiful memories for many families working as a wedding coordinator and was a very talented designer and seamstress.  She loved all things that sparkled and made many Mardi Gras costumes for Gulf Coast krewes. She was truly a beloved queen who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Romero; son, Russell J. Romero; mother, Sarah Fowler; father, Shelton Lee; brother, Shelton Lee (Irene).

She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Schultz (Gary); grandchildren, Joshua Schultz, Haley Schultz, and Katherine Romero; and best friend and companion, P. James Wetzel.
