Robert Bruce Schabacker

Robert Bruce Schabacker, age 79 of Vancleave, entered the church triumphant on Friday, October 30, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elfriede Schabacker and grandson Christopher Madson.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wallis Schabacker; his children, Adrienne (Marty) Madson, Jeff (Adele) Schabacker, Paul (Mary) Schabacker, Ron (Kim) Heckman, Kinney (Dana) Heckman, Rob (Natalia) Heckman, Kari (Brian) O'Neil; his grandchildren, Megan Schabacker, Matthais Schabacker, Elizabeth Madson, Caroline Madson, Allison Madson, Mary Beth Schabacker, Gracie Schabacker, Katie Schabacker, Jerimee Heckman, Leah Heckman, Brenden Nicholson, Tristen Nicholson, Andrew Heckman, Leeza Heckman, and Alexander Heckman and his sisters, Marianna Hanna, Audrey Pearson, and Louise Van Hooser.
He was a devoted member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was a graduate of the State University of New York Maritime College and earned his master's degree from the University of Southern California. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a marine engineer. He also retired as a Lt. Commander in the US Coast Guard. He enjoyed playing contract bridge and was a Life Master.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015, at 12:45pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard. The family will accept visitors at the family home after the burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bienville Blvd, Ocean Springs, Mississippi 39564.
