Michael John Bayne was born April 24, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin, and passed away April 24, 2021, on his 76th birthday, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Frances Bayne.
Michael leaves behind his beloved wife, Tania of Gulfport; his stepdaughter, Julia Ivanova of Bordeaux, France; his mother-in-law, Katya of Bulgaria; his brother, Russ Bayne (Mary) of Ocean Springs and Richard Bayne (Marsha) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and two nephews and two nieces.
Growing up in a military family, Michael lived in Germany, the Philippines, and many states. After graduating from Biloxi High School, Michael earned two bachelor's and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California, and a Judicial Doctor of Law degree from Pepperdine University.
He served in the California Army National Guard and was soon transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves Judge Advocates, where he taught court reporting and other related courses.
Michael worked for over thirty years in the California court system both in Los Angeles and Riverside counties where he retired as Executive Officer. After retiring, he became an International Judicial Consultant for a number of Eastern European countries including Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, setting up or improving their judicial systems.
He was co-owner and co-founder with his wife, Tania of Shanti Yoga & Counseling of Gulfport since 2010, where he served as CFO.
Michael was active in the Toastmasters and the Captain of many Treasure Oak Country Club tennis teams in Ocean Springs. He will always be remembered for his big smile, his kindness, his friendliness, and for always being a gentleman.
Due to current COVID concerns, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
