Matthew Weidner

April 28, 1984 — October 6, 2021

Gulfport

Matthew Joseph Weidner, age 37 of Gulfport, left his earthly home in the arms of Saint Michael for his journey to be with our Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

His PawPaw awaits him there with a loving embrace to see what kind of mischief they can get into together.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Anthony S. Maniscalco; his father, Joseph Earl Weidner; his paternal grandmother, Vivian Weidner Webb; and his childhood friend, Christopher Bui.

Matthew is survived by the two loves of his life, his wife of 10 years, Noemi Rico and their daughter, Anabel Maria Weidner; his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Steven Severson; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte P. Mniscalco; his sister, Rachel and John Conway; stepbrothers, Steven and Kay Severson and Joshua Severson; his maternal aunt, Wendy and Jeff Rouse; his maternal uncle, Mike and Lorna Maniscalco.  He is also survived by Nick and Nora Rico, Nick and Mayda Rico, Jason and Deedee Rico; along with four nieces, five nephews, and numerous cousins.  Matthew also left behind his cherished fur babies, Chimmy and Mudbug.

He was born in Biloxi and spent his childhood and young adult life in D’Iberville.  He had many talents and skills and invested himself into his love for history.  While working as an unto mechanic, he was also a volunteer firefighter and began to learn the trade of welding when he developed epilepsy and could no longer work.  However, he found Mimi, who was sent from God to be his soulmate and caretaker and together, they brought Anabel into this world, who is truly our gift from God.  Matthew then became Anabel’s stay at home daddy, and they were inseparable.

Matthew was very artistic and creative and was working on his Halloween costume at the time of his death, after suffering a grand mal seizure.  He was born a Catholic and was being called by Christ to return home to his faith.  Matthew was so loved by all and will be missed with every breath we take as he has left a hole in our hearts, but may we fill that hole with Jesus Christ. Amen
