Mary House

February 12, 1933 — March 25, 2020

Saucier

Mary Louise House, age 87 of Saucier, MS, passed away peacefully in Gulfport, MS on March 25, 2020 surrounded by her daughter and grand daughter.  She was born February 12, 1933 at her parent’s home in Saucier, Mississippi (not in a hospital).

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Beatrice Patton of Saucier; her husband of 50 years, Gene L. House of Saucier; her son, Frank House of Saucier; her grandson, Zachary Gates of Saucier; her son-in-law, Bill Mulherin of Saucier and her son-in-law, Sam Furlow of McHenry; her brothers, Delmer Patton, Clifford Patton, Richard Patton, baby boy Patton (unnamed) and Cleveland Patton all of Saucier; and her sisters, Crystal LaBauve and Elizabeth Patton (infant) of Saucier.

Mrs. House is survived by Shirley Mulherin, Gene E. House and wife; Mary Ann House; Diana (Monkey) House, Robin Gates and husband, Jeff Gates; a sister, Jay Tubbs; and a sister, Rosa Lee Sauls; her grandchildren, Diana (Sweet Pea) and Guy Cobern, Monte and Lynn Mulherin, Ashlea Mulherin Whitfield, Zeb and Ashley House, Tera House, Zachary Gates, Jake and Shana House, Clint and Andrea Gates, and Hannah Gates; great-grandchildren, Kirsten Cobern, Shane Cobern, Bailey Cobern, Brisah Cobern, Wyatt Page, Mason Page, Tucker House, Zoe’ House, Cassa House, Cooper Favre, Clair Favre, Sadie Hansen, and Cheyenne Gates; great-great grandchildren, Tinsleigh Cobern, Brenton Cobern, Halle Cobern and Kadence Page; and lots of nieces and nephews.

She loved to spend time with her family, decorate, cook, shell peas, butterbeans, and pecans, canning jelly and vegetables, fishing and hunting with her husband and loved talking on the CB radio, where her handle was “Lady Sweet Pea.” She attended Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier, MS.

Mrs. House, also known as “Mrs. Louise“, “Mama”, “Mama House”, “Mawmaw”, “Auntie” and “Aunt Lou”, was a dedicated wife, mother and grand-mother.  She loved her family deeply.  She helped to raise many children, grandchildren and others during her lifetime.  She kept many of her grandchildren and there have been several times when many of them went “MIA” on “the hill,” just to sneak to MawMaw and PawPaw’s house!  She loved cooking and feeding people and could whip up the best hoecakes east of the Mississippi. She loved to give gifts. She was just a “giving person.” She really talked about the Lord, especially in the past few months. She attended Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier, MS. During this difficult time, remember the words in the book of John, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”  When God called her home, she flew up and the gates of heaven opened wide. She will be missed by all, but she’s not in pain anymore and she’s in the arms of Jesus, along with many of her family members.
