Marie Reeves

1940 — January 1, 2020

Gulfport

Marie Francis Voyles Reeves, age 79, passed away on July 17, 2020.

She was the beloved daughter of Floyd Robert Voyles and Mae Elizabeth Voyles Ross, and wife and widow of Raymond Richard Reeves; mother of Linda Sue Reeves Randolph (William “Randy”); and grandmother of Caroline Marie Randolph Miller (Gregory). She had four sisters: deceased Patricia Ann Voyles Johnston (Jack), Roberta Jeanette Voyles Reynolds (Donald), Pamala Yvonne Hilderbrand (Herman), and deceased Deborah Kaye Faulkner (Lanny).

She graduated from Baker High School in Mobile Al. She and her husband Ray owned their own Upholstery Shop for many years on Pass Road in Gulfport, and we’re known for their impeccable attention to detail in the quality of their work. Marie also enjoyed watching and listening as Ray played the guitar in country and western bands along the coast as well as other areas of the country including: Illinois, Chicago, Nashville, Florida, Louisiana, Texas and Arizona. He had been playing in clubs since he was 15 years old and continued till the end with many faithful fans.

Ray and Marie did everything together and always with kind words for each other. This included raising their daughter Linda Sue. Their family and faith were always part of who they were. When Ray passed away, Marie just couldn’t let go of him. She decided to have a combined funeral service at the time of her death. As in life they are still doing everything together, even the funeral service. They had a great love for each other that never wavered. She was his sweat-heart till the day she died.

Ray was the son of Marion Reeves and Pauline Reeves Hilderbrand. Ray also had two more children from previous relationships: Marion Reeves Miller Tremble (Jeffery), daughter of Ruth Sumrall, including four grandchildren, Connie, Eileen, Joann and John and Richard Reeves Stephens, son of Wanda Lee Reeves Stephens, including two grandchildren Jamie and Jimmy.

Marie most recently pushed herself with hidden strength and a proud heart to the wedding of her granddaughter Caroline Marie and Gregory Miller on St Patrick’s Day 2020. She was so excited to be a part of it, even a world-wide pandemic couldn’t stop her. Her quite spirit roars with love in the silence now that she has passed into the next life. May they both Rest In Peace with our Lord Jesus.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for both Raymond and Marie on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 11 Am at St James Catholic Church in Gulfport.
