Lowell Redd

April 5, 1961 — September 24, 2022

Ocean Springs

On Saturday, September 24th, 2022, Lowell Paul Redd passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Ocean Springs, MS at the age of sixty-one. Lowell was preceded in death by his Mother, Alleen Edwards Redd and his Father, Ray Wiley Redd of Virginia, his beloved Sister, Jeannie Reed of North Carolina, and his Mother-in-Law, Molly Pemberton of Gautier.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Suzzanne Redd, two children, Cheryl (Ioannis) Zafiris and Joli (Jason) Lauban, two amazing grandchildren who he dearly loved; Laine Margaret Lauban and Basil Joseph Zafiris, his Brother-in-Law Sam Reed of Virginia, and his Father-in-Law, Jim (PJ) Pemberton of Gautier.

A native of Draper Virginia, Lowell was later a resident of Ocean Springs, MS after relocating with his wife Suzzanne following hurricane Katrina. He held an Engineering degree and was a humble yet accomplished retired US Navy Federal Civil Service member. Lowell also devoted much of his life to civil service as a US Navy Support Contractor 2001-2007, and Navy Federal Civil Service Civilian 2007-2022.

Among many other designations and recognition, he held: Presidential Service Badge in service to President Ronald Reagan, US Military Top Secret Clearance, Surface Warfare Officer, Kuwait Liberation, NATO, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, and National Defense Service Medal.

Lowell cared greatly for those who could not care for themselves and was an avid supporter of animal welfare, rescue, and adoption. He lovingly cared for many animals including his cats, dogs, and beloved horses with whom he spent countless hours.

With a heart full of generosity and selflessness, Lowell was known as a consistent supporter of many charitable organizations including the Humane Society, Home of Grace, and Salvation Army.

In lieu of flowers, it was Lowell’s wish to direct all honorary contribution requests to the Jackson County Animal Shelter via donation or adoption. A private family memorial service will be held in his honor.

“Failing to fetch me at first, keep encouraged. Missing me one place, look another. I stop somewhere waiting for you.” ~ Walt Whitman
