Linda Ann Davis Overby, age 78 of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
She was born in Laurel, MS and grew up between Laurel and Bay Springs, MS.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Perry M. Davis of Laurel; her mother, Janie Sims Davis of Laurel; her brother, Billy M. Davis of Virginia; her son-in-law, John “Jay” Faulkner III of Gulfport; and her stepmother, Doris H. Davis of Laurel.
She is survived by her children, Janie Overby Hoyt (Brian) of Huntsville, AL, Mary Overby Wall (Thomas “Tom”) of Wellsley, MA, Constance “Connie” Overby Faulkner of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Mary Ruth, Gunny, Killian, Savannah, Judi, and Warren Hoyt, Olia, Davis, and Eva Wall, John William Faulkner IV, and Elizabeth “Lizy” Hurlbert; her great grandchildren, Nick Crouse, Addy Smith, and John William Faulkner V; her brother, Mikell Davis .
Linda earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She retired from the MS Division of Mental Health where she worked at Ellisville State School for 18 years. She most recently worked at South MS Regional Center in Long Beach for 6 years. Linda was a member of the MS Association of Educators and AARP.
She enjoyed sewing, traveling when she was able, volunteering with Girl Scouts, as well as baking and cake decorating, especially birthday cakes.
Many heartfelt thanks to her team of doctors and the numerous nurses and home health staff that provided so much help during her time of need.
