Leo McNally, Jr.

October 5, 1953 — November 17, 2020

Gulfport

Dr. Leo F. McNally Jr., 67, of Gulfport, MS passed away suddenly on Tuesday November 17, 2020. Leo was born October 5, 1953 in Utica, NY He was the eldest son of the late Leo and Constance McNally.

Leo moved to Gulfport, MS at the start of middle school and graduated from St. John High School in 1971. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1975 from University of Southern Mississippi and upon graduation joined the Army.  He served until his acceptance into Ole Miss Dental School. He graduated in 1984 with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine, but the highlight of those years was the birth of his first daughter, Jamie, in 1982.
Leo returned to his hometown to practice dentistry where he met his beloved wife, Janet in 1985.  They were married in 1987.  Leo and Janet moved to Puyallup, WA and started a dental practice together.  Janet, a dental hygienist, and Leo worked together there until 2011 when they both retired.

While living in Washington, Leo was blessed with the birth of 2 more children, Amber and Sean. His three children are testaments to his passion for a life well lived. Leo’s favorite saying in life was “Let’s work hard but let’s play harder!”  Leo enjoyed boating, fishing, water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle with friends, shooting pool, and camping, which eventually became RVing.  Leo and Janet began traveling every chance they got, either for family reunions or just to show the world to his children.

After retirement, Leo built a home back in Gulfport, where he and Janet resided. They were enjoying reuniting with family and friends on the MS Gulf Coast.

Leo was a long-time active member of the Elks in Puyallup, Washington. After returning to Gulfport, Leo became a member of the American Poolplayers Association to continue his passion for shooting pool. Leo was a man of many talents, including house construction and loved a challenge to repair or improve everything he touched.  No words can describe how greatly he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
