Obituary

Josaline Anita Rubino Slider, age 91, of Hurley, Mississippi, passed from this life on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Slider was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Vernon Slider; her granddaughter, Kally Lauren Slider; her parents, Joseph and Olga Rubino; her sister, Anna Coleman; and her brother, Thomas Rubino.

She is survived by her 4 children: daughter, Sherrill Bush and her husband, Charles; son, Keith Slider and his wife, Diane; daughter, Janelle Long and her husband, Kenneth; and son, Melroy Slider and his wife, Donna;  15 grandchildren, Russell (Monica) Bush, Candace (James) Cooley, Meredith Crawford, Chad Bush, Valeria (Chris) Snipes, Jeremy (Beverly) Slider, Anthony Slider, Kyle (Stephanie) Long, Jeffrey (Whitney) Long, Lindsay (Ben) Wiles, Catherine Slider, Samuel (Kali) Slider, Brooke Slider, Ben Slider and Annia Slider; 26 great-grandchildren, Cody (Ashlee) Bush, Austin (Leslie) Bush, Olivia Bush, Brayden Bush, Aidan Ibanez, Alyssa Cooley, Jared Cooley, Emily Snipes, Carson Snipes, Jesse Snipes, William Slider, Lane Slider, Michael Slider, Waylon Slider, Andrew Slider, Ethan Slider, Alan Slider, Grace Slider, Woody Slider, Sophie Long, Addison Long, Logan Long, Emma Grace Wiles, Harrison Brannan, Lauren Crane and Hannah Slider; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Levi Bush, Josiah Bush, Ryland Bush and Blair Bush; her sister, Judy (Buddy) Cumbest; her sister-in-law, Margaret Slider Driver; her special friend, Sadie Rodgers; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Slider was a life-long resident of Hurley and had a high school education.  She worked as a school bus driver for East Central schools, and she was an election poll worker in Jackson County. She loved to cook and was the best bread maker. She was a seamstress and enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and reading.

Mrs. Slider was a life-long member of Magnolia Springs Assembly of God where she was a Sunday School teacher, pianist, organist and VBS music director.

Special thanks to Kali Slider, Dr. Mark Wiles, Dr. Alex Wiles, and the staff in the ICU at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers during this time.

Friends are invited to join the Slider family for visitation and services at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God, 7300 Campground Road, Hurley community.  Visitation will be Friday, October 22nd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 23rd from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.  The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Slider will be laid to rest in Magnolia Springs Cemetery.
