John Anderson

January 2, 1947 — October 12, 2021

Gulfport

Mr. John Michiel "Mike" Anderson, son of the late Leon and Selma Anderson, passed away on October 12, 2021. Mike was born in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1947. He graduated from Biloxi High School and attended Perkinston Jr. College, where he studied music. Mike was a believer in Jesus Christ and was recently baptized by Pastor Rodney Evans. Mike enjoyed playing in the Worship Band at Lilly of the Cross Church, which he attended in McHenry, Mississippi.

In 1967, Mike joined the United States Army and received Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After completing Basic Training, Mike served his country by completing a seven-month tour in Vietnam. Mike was a member of the Airborne Division, an expert marksman, and received numerous medals and accommodations to include the "Bronze Star."  After returning home from the war, Mike became a member of the Biloxi Police Department's Reserve Division and continued to serve the community where he lived.

Mike enjoyed fishing and other activities but his true passion was playing music. From an early age, he excelled in music and could play many instruments to include the drums, rhythm, lead, and bass guitars. He fell in love playing the bass guitar which became his instrument of choice. He was a member of many bands through the years to include his most recent, The "Do-N-Time Band." Playing music brought joy to Mike and those who knew him would agree.

Mike was a member of many organizations which included The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and American Veterans Organization (AMVETS), both in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mike was successful in starting the first-ever chapter of the AMVETS in the State of Mississippi, where he served as the Commanding Officer.

Mike was united in holy matrimony to Lalla Jean Sardos of Gulfport, Mississippi, in February of 2012. This union blessed him with many happy years and extended his family with the surviving members listed below.

Mike leaves behind his wife, Lalla Jean Anderson; along with his children, Greg Anderson, Tommy (Shawna) Anderson, Keith (Diane) Dye, Ronald (Shilona) Dye, and Melissa (Keith) Moore; his grandchildren Lindsey, Cassi, and Brayden Anderson, Candace Dye, Michael Dye, Jake Moore, Brandon Moore, Amber Dye, and Hailey Dye; and his two great-grandchildren, Bryson Allen, and Mallory Shane.

John Michiel Anderson will always be loved, missed forever and never forgotten.
