JoAnn Pridgen Watson, age 74, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Gulfport, MS after suffering a fatal stroke. In her own words, she lived a blessed life and had no regrets. She resided in Mobile, Alabama most of her life and had recently moved to Gulfport to be closer to her daughter. She was a cosmetologist for over 40 years and started her career at Gayfer’s Salon. She eventually opened up the Alternative Salon in the mid 1990’s which she owned and operated until her retirement in 2016. She loved being a cosmetologist and making people feel good about themselves. JoAnn was a great listener which endeared her to friends and family. She enjoyed going to the casinos, fine dining, vodka martinis and seeing a good show. She loved sitting on her patio with a cup of coffee, enjoying the flowers and watching the birds. A true patriot, the 4th of July was her favorite holiday.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Paul Watson and wife, Teresa; daughter, Carrie Watson and husband, Terry Hines; grandchildren, Katie and Timothy Watson and Josh Hines and brother, Douglas Pridgen. She has many nieces and nephews and extended family which she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Clara O’dell Pridgen; sister, Betty Taylor and brother, Truman Pridgen.
