Jacqueline Joyce Hickman

Jacqueline (Jacquie) Hickman, 84, beloved wife and mother, passed away February 1, 2014 in Gulfport.
She is preceded in death by a son, William Michael; mother, Carrie Turner; father, Glenn Turner; sister, Bettye Higgs; and a brother, Emery (Tony) Turner.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William (Bill) Hickman, Sr. of Biloxi; children, Patricia Murray (Francis) of D'Iberville, Glenda Holifield (Glen) of Biloxi, John Hickman (Amy) of Biloxi, William Hickman, Jr. (Debbie) of St. Martin; sister, Carole Brown of St. Martin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Merrill of Gulfport; brother-in-law, Burlie Higgs of Diamondhead; grandchildren, Nicole Johns, Mickey Miller, Derek Murray, Jacob Hickman, Jason Hickman, Ashley Hickman, Billy Hickman, Casey Lott, Kathy Byrd, and James Holifield; great-grandchildren, Blaine Pendleton, Jaelyn Bethmann, Isabelle Johns; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, Donald Miller, Mary, Robin, and Patrick Bailey, and Randy and Debra Lundy.
Jacqueline was born in Porterdale, GA, but moved to the coast as a child. She graduated from Biloxi High School in 1948. While raising her children she served as president of the Biloxi School System PTA. Active in scouting she served as president of the Gulf Pines Council for Girl Scouts. Her love of books and children served her well in her position as librarian for Beauvoir Elementary School, a position she held for many years. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and Mardi Gras at Mary and Robin's. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations to the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, PO Box 55802, Jackson, MS 39296.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
