Irene' Bruce Robertson

Irene' Bruce Robertson, of Ocean Springs, age 76, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
Irene' was born in Edinburg, Scotland to Sarah McDonnell Bruce and Melvin Bruce; she then immigrated to Phenix City, Alabama on May 3, 1959 to marry Leon E. (Robbie) Robertson on May 24, 1959. She and Robbie moved to Biloxi in November, 1959 where Robbie attended school at Keesler and where Bruce Marshall Robertson was born in March, 1960. They returned to Biloxi in June of 1965 where their second son, Stuart Douglas Robertson was born in August. Irene' and Robbie were married for 56 years.
Irene' was a stay at home mom until the children were grown. In 1988 she bought Pet Safari in Edgewater Village in Biloxi where she made many friends. She managed the Pet Safari until 1999 when it was closed. Irene' loved Mardi Gras and was very active for many years. Irene' was very proud of her Scottish Heritage and was very active along with her husband Robbie in both the Mississippi Gulf Coast Scottish Society and the Highlands and Islands Association.
Irene' was preceded in death by her mother and father; and her brothers, Douglas and Collin.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robbie; her brothers, David of Scotland and Gordon of Australia; sons, Bruce of Columbus, MS and Stuart of Ocean Springs, MS; and grandchildren, Duncan and Emma (Bruce's children).
She was loved by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed by Robbie, Bruce, Stuart, Duncan and Emma, her brown-eyed girl who lit up the room when she walked in.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, corner of Lemoyne Blvd and Washington Ave, Ocean Springs with a visitation for family and friends from 12:00 PM until the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
