Gregory Venable, Sr.

Gregory Lynn Venable, Sr. a native of Daytona Beach, FL passed away at his home in Gulfport, MS on March 13, 2020, at the age of 56.

He served in the US Army and the National Guard and was of the Baptist faith. He loved being a Licensed Amateur Ham Radio Operator and had the call sign of KD5BEB.  He will be deeply missed across the airways, and by his loving wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy L. Venable; mother, Bonnie L. Venable; sister, Lisa Venable; grandmother, Birdie Lee Cox; and his grandfather, Charles Cox.

Gregory is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie Wagner Venable of Gulfport; his daughter, Amanda (Joshua, Sr.) Peterson; sons, Gregory L. (Amanda Hebert) Venable, Jr. and Charles L. Venable all of Gulfport, MS; sister, Janine (Mike) Newsome of Florence, MS; grandchildren, Raylee Dale Peterson, Gregory Lynn Venable, III (his mother, Laura Carr),  Joshlynn Michelle Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Jr. all from Gulfport, MS ; and special friends, Adina Etheridge, James Whisenant, Joe Davis, Jonathan and Scott Barette.

He was a devoted father and a great man who loved his family and friends. Gregory adored his grandkids. Sitting in the sunlight listening to the birds was one of the things he loved to do the most. Gregory will be laid to rest at a later date in Biloxi National Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice, and to his very special friend Felicia who took such great care of him on her visits.
