Gloria Urruita Searcy, passed away in her home at the age of 70, surrounded by loved ones, on April 28, 2021. She was a nurturing and loving grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Coco, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, found her calling as a caregiver, and took great pleasure caring for her six grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing, drawing, gardening, swimming, reading, and caring for her many rescue pets. She was creative and artistic and had a natural gift for style and interior design. She will be remembered for her exceptional beauty, playful sense of humor, and kind and compassionate spirit.
Gloria was born in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of the late Lorraine Von Rosenberg Urruita and Dr. Hector Aureliano Urrutia. Gloria graduated from St. Mary's Hall in 1969, and subsequently attended Mount Vernon College for Women (now part of George Washington University). She was preceded in death by husband, Patrick Lambert Searcy. She is survived by her children, Ramona Welder Seemann (William) and Hunter Lambert Searcy (Markelle); and grandchildren Clark, Miriam, and Roslyn Seemann, Alyson Kate and Axel Searcy, and Chaseigh Moran. She is also survived by her three sisters, Patricia Causey, Barbara Fitzgibbon, and Rosemary Leon. We would also like to acknowledge and thank her friend and caregiver, Lisa Zengerle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi. A visitation and memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 6th at St. Peter's by the Sea, 1909 15th St., Gulfport, MS.
