Gisela Davis

April 28, 1931 — October 3, 2020

Long Beach

Gisela Davis of Long Beach, MS, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2020. She passed away at her home in Long Beach. She was 89 years young.

Gisela was born on April 28, 1931, in Frankfurt Germany. She grew up under the reign of Adolf Hitler. Stories she told were often unpleasant, even horrific! She and her family fled Nazi soldiers, taking shelter in burned out buildings and basements, where she would go hungry for days. She was terrified while listening to the bombing’s day and night. Her baby brother was killed in one of those bombings in a local hospital where Gisela was only a few doors down.

Happiness did eventually find Gisela in the summer of 1963, when she met and fell in love with Airman 1st Class Patrick Davis. He was stationed in Frankfurt Germany with the United States Air Force. Shortly after, they were married on September 6, 1963.

As a young girl, Gisela dreamed of coming to America. That dream was realized in 1964, when Patrick received orders to return to the United States when he was transferred to Pope AFB in Fayetteville, NC. Patrick and Gisela, and her young son, Heinz, settled in Fayetteville where they resided for 10 years. During this time, Gisela studied to become an American citizen. She earned and received her citizenship, along with her son Heinz, in 1968. The family moved to Long Beach, MS, in 1974, where she resided for 45 years.

Gisela is survived by her husband Patrick of 57 years. Her only son, Heinz Davis and daughter-in-law Patricia Davis, both of Brooksville, MS. Grandson, Chad Davis and wife Brandi Davis, of Madison, MS. Granddaughter, Lori Lopez Kirkland, of Pensacola, FL. Three great grandchildren, Dawson and Ben Davis of Madison, MS, and Hayden Bosarge of Flora, MS. Two sisters, Ingrid Fuerst and Margot Baudili, both of Frankfurt Germany. One Nephew, Thomas Fuerst and two nieces, Andrea and Cornelia also of Frankfurt. Gisela’s parents, Margarita and Georg Emmerich and brother Hubert are deceased.

Gisela loved many things, but above all, she loved her family, home, friends and animals Her Jack Russell, Vicki, was her favorite pet of whom we are certain, she is running with through fields of flowers in heaven at this very moment. Isaiah 40:31, I shall run and not be weary.

The family would like to say a “SPECIAL THANKS” to Teri and Jake Sitniker of Long Beach, MS, for all their loving kindness and friendship shown to Gisela over the years.

Gisela came to know her Lord in her later years of life and accepted Him as her Lord Jesus and Savior. In her final days, she would refer to Him as her Master and Shepherd. Also, music seemed to soothe her soul in her final hours, especially, “Sunshine on My Shoulders” by John Denver. Angels took her home at 10:54 A.M. on a beautiful sunshine filled morning. She was pronounced at 12:19 P.M. in the afternoon.

A private memorial will be held for family only on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at 1:30 in the afternoon. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the SPCA in Gulfport, MS.
