SMSgt Frank Anthony Ferreira, United States Air Force, retired, age 90, of Biloxi, passed away on July 19, 2021.
Frank was a native of Providence, Rhode Island. Upon high school graduation, Frank enlisted straight into the United States Air Force. He was a crew member on C130 aircraft as loadmaster and drop sonde operator for the Hurricane Hunters. After serving from August 10, 1950 to June 20, 1991 he retired from the Air Force. Frank worked for the United States Navy as a civilian analyst. He was a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, way too many to list.
Frank had many hobbies, gardening, cycling, fishing, and woodworking. He had a lifelong love affair with The New York Giants along with his beloved New Orleans Saints.
Frank was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Mr. Ferreira was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco A. Ferreira and Aldegundes Oliveira Ferreira; and his siblings, Clarise, Arthur, Stella, John B. and Antone Ferreira; his son, Richard, his daughter in law, Karin; and his granddaughter, Christina Frierson.
Frank is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sally C. Ferreira; his children Christine Ferreira MacBrayer (Christopher), Joanne Ferreira, Randy Frierson (Candi), Kevin Frierson (Barbara) and Linda Frierson Buford; his grandchildren, Benjamin Frierson (Kristin), Amanda Frierson, Josh Frierson, Jason Frierson, Richard Frierson (Brittany), and Ricky Buford; his great grandchildren, Bransen, Connor, and Kailey Champagne, Ember, Greenlee and Maislyn Frierson, Ricki and Rhodes Frierson, Arabella and Jordan Taylor; and special friends, Kevin and Donna Gary, who helped Frank in so many ways to make life comfortable.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Monique Harrison, home health care nurse with Saad Health Care. Frank was a devoted friend to many including seniors and children at Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org, or the Wounded Warrior project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, a celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date.
