Perkinston

Cole Mason Helveston, age 15 of Perkinston, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, from a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

Cole is survived by his loving mother, Kerry Arkwright; his father, Mark Helveston; stepfather, Bobby Arkwright; sister, Kristin Watson (Amber); his nephew Maddox Watson; stepsister, Alyson Arkwright; stepbrother, Jeffrey Arkwright; maternal grandparents, Guy and Paula Robinson; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Elaine Helveston; his aunt, Bridget Robinson Pucheu (Jen); his aunt, Stacey Davidson (Eric); his uncle, Jeremy Helveston; cousins, Taylor and Hannah Helveston; and his many friends.

Cole’s sudden passing at the young age of 15 is a reminder to us all of how precious life is and that we should love and live life to the fullest, which Cole did.

Cole was an amazingly kind and loving young man whom was taken from us too soon. His infectious laugh and huge heart touched everyone he came in contact with. Cole deeply loved and cared for those around him. He was mature beyond his years in his thoughts about life, love, and kindness. Cole was the keeper of our hearts and the protector of his friends. He always wanted to help others, which he did every day by the love he openly shared. He contributed to all of our lives in so many positive ways.

Cole attended Stone High School and recently wrote in a school essay of how he wanted to be remembered, “I want to be remembered as the crazy, funny, and smart person, but most of all, I want to be remembered as being there for EVERYONE no matter what.”

Cole Mason, you will never be forgotten. You had the most beautiful soul. Your family and friends will always feel blessed to have had you in our lives and been loved by you. Thank you for being you. Our world is a lesser place without you, but it will always be filled with memories of you and all the love and laughter that you gave us. This isn’t a goodbye, this is until we see you again. Rest easy Cole Mason, we love you to the moon and back a million times forever.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cathie Donald of Gulfport, MS and Dr. Ludi Kashimawo and all of the staff at Ochsner Medical Center for the care and compassion that was given to Cole and our family.
