Diamondhead

Charlotte Dianne Calmes, age 66 of Diamondhead, Mississippi, passed peacefully in her home on September 10, 2020. She was born in Many, Louisiana on January 25, 1954 to Clarence Monroe “Tobe” Jordan and Mamie Beatrice Rambin Jordan Calmes. She was proudly adopted by Stanley Ray Calmes in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her former husband and the love of her life, David Holder Rodgers; her parents, Clarence Jordan, Stanley Calmes, and Mamie Calmes; her beloved aunts and uncles; and her dear friend; Misty Dawn Daniels.

She leaves behind those of whom she was so happy to have in her life. Her family, both blood and the ones she chose were her greatest joy. She leaves behind her only child, Callie Rodgers Bunter (Zachary) of Diamondhead, Mississippi; and her granddaughter, Kyla Jade Bunter, who brought her sunshine and happiness throughout the years.

She is also survived by her soul sisters, Helen Aldridge of Prattville, Alabama and Holly (Jimmy) Smith of Key Largo, Florida; her niece, Lynsey Gwin of Baton Rouge, Louisana; her dear cousin Susan (Rich) Scialoia of Lafayette, Louisiana; her brother,Vaughn Jordan of Covington, Louisiana; a multitude of cousins; as well as her 7ACCS brothers and sisters, whom she loved dearly.

Dianne held many positions throughout her life, which each brought her joy and pride. She was a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked at de L’Epee Deaf Center for a season, as well as at Keesler Air Force Base, where she was a travel pay clerk for the 7ACCS. She spent time working for the family business, Mr. Money Financing, and also co-owned a general store in McHenry with her late husband. Her greatest season was making quilts and volunteering with her daughter at Beauvoir before Hurricane Katrina. Anyone who was gifted a quilt from Dianne knew how special they are.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, with a visitation from 2:00 PM until the mass. There will be no burial.

In lieu of flours, the family requests that a charitable donation be gifted to St. Joseph’s Indian School, which is one of Dianne’s fondest charities. She had a generous heart and would prefer to help others instead of having flowers at the service. ( http://www.stjo.org)
