Chandra Nicholson

Chandra “Chandi” Cathleen Flurry Nicholson, age 47, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband and mother on February 14, 2020 at their home in Ocean Springs, MS, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Chandra was born on May, 6, 1972 in Cristobol, Panama to Kathleen Beaugez and Clifton C. “Tippy” Flurry, Jr. She graduated from Ocean Springs High School in May 1990 and graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. Degree in Engineering in May 1995. Chandra also earned her Masters Degree from William Carey College in May 2005. She was a lifelong member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Ocean Springs, Member of Leadership Jackson County, Member of the Mississippi State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, Past President of the Historical Ocean Springs Association (HOSA), and the Chairman of the Annual HOSA Charity Auction for many years. Chandra was currently employed as a Civil Engineer for the City of Pascagoula.

Chandra is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert “Chubby” Beaugez, Ernestine Beaugez, Roy “Memaw” Jones, Clifton C. Flurry and Floyd Norris Jones.

Chandra is survived by her loving husband, of 24 years this March, Lawrence Casey Nicholson; infant daughter, Ella Grace; loving mother, Kathleen Beaugez; father, Tippy Flurry, Jr.; stepmother, Gwendolyn Roberts Flurry; devoted godmother, Trudi Flurry Dixon; godfather, Dale Beaugez; brothers, CC (Mandy) Flurry, III, Ladd (Keri) Flurry; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Chandra’s sense of business and professionalism was a means for her comfort while visiting her cancer specialists at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. She would study and research her cancer as if it were a project with a deadline to be reached. Instead of sitting back and waiting for answers or questions, she would spend countless days and nights researching and providing her MDA Medical Staff and hundreds of cancer patients she met with helpful information on tips for side effects and foods to stay away from to help them feel better.

In Loving Gratitude to all the City of Pascagoula employees who donated their exception time days to Chandra. Their selflessness gave her time to travel back and forth to Houston and days when she could not work. We are truly thankful.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5:00 — 8:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., at the corner of Washington Ave., West Jackson County.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm, with visitation starting one hour prior, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 502 Jackson Ave., Ocean Springs, MS.

Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Sunset Road, Ocean Springs, MS.
