Brianna Surrento

d. March 23, 2020

Brianna Surrento, 22, beloved daughter and sister, was called to her eternal resting place on March 23, 2020. She entered this world on July 10, 1997 in Cleveland, OH, born to Michael and Claudette Surrento.

Brianna, referred to by many as Bri, was a devout Christian who loved God. She had such an amazing personality that while she always spoke in truth, she was sensitive to helping someone in need. She was a giving person that never asked for anything in return. Her loving kindness could be seen in all her actions. She had this infectious laughter and smile that enveloped those around her, and you couldn't help but feel the joy within her. Those close to her knew the love she had for God, her family and what love her family had for her. God created such an amazing human, and although she was on this earth only 22 years, she made an impact on so many, that it will be felt a lifetime.

Bri had a passion for softball. After graduating from Oakleaf High School, she played her freshman year at Chipola College which was a part of a 2016 Florida College System Athletics Association State Championship team. She was chosen as a first team all-tournament player in the state tournament. Chipola college later finished as the runner-up in the National Junior College National Championship. In her freshman season, she played in 63 games, hit.356 with six homers, 53 runs batted in and just 16 strikeouts. After her freshman year, Bri transferred to Lander University. She had an outstanding three seasons at Lander, where she started in 94 of 97 games. In her senior season she was a first team All Peach Belt Conference selection with a .385 batting average and a league-leading .543 on-base percentage. She led Lander in home runs, walks and on-base percentage. Following three seasons at Lander, Bri played and coached in the World Baseball Softball Confederation before joining the coaching staff at the University of the Southwest as a graduate assistant. Her success in softball was admired not only by friends and family, but also by those who shared the softball field with her.

Bri not only excelled on the ballfield, she was stellar in the classroom as well. She graduated from Oakleaf High School in the top 10% of her class, and was on the Dean’s list multiple times at Lander University. She graduated from Lander with a Bachelor’s in Business. She was actively pursuing her Master’s degree in Business specialized in Sports Management and Recreation at the University of the Southwest (USW).

Bri also loved music and photography. Smart, savvy, sassy, brutally honest, caring, beautiful, selfless and a heart of gold are only few of the amazing qualities she possessed. An angel on earth, now an angel in heaven, she will certainly be missed.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Claudette Surrento, sisters, Kayley and Taylor Surrento, grandparents Phil and Francine Jackson, Greg and Linda Surrento and aunts, Jessica Robinson (Marshall), Stacey Surrento and Jamie Surrento, and last but certainly not least, Bri would want us to include her fur baby, Bella.

As a result of the coronavirus concerns of safe travel and large gatherings, state regulations have limited the number of people who can physically attend. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM Central Time and will be live-streamed via Facebook Live.
