Brent Davis

February 21, 1972 — June 29, 2022

Vancleave

Brent Rufus Davis left this world on Wednesday, June 29th.  Brent was a musician, a poet, a painter, an artist in every sense of the word.  He saw the world through a lens that magnifies every detail, heard music through a filter that amplifies every note, journaled poetry which ignites the senses, and composed music that feeds the soul.  Brent was a friend who freely gave his huge heart without recourse and opened his home to those in need.

While he loved family and friends in Latimer, MS, he felt the calling to find himself, to venture out with an open sense of adventure and a heart open and willing to be given.  Brent’s voyager soul led him to backpack Europe in 1997.  He returned to the states and made San Diego, CA his home for a while, mesmerized by the call of the ocean against the rocky shore.  Next, Brent resided in New Orleans for two years where ‘Cadmium Red’ found inspiration and could be heard strumming tunes on the footsteps of those who had gone before.  Eventually, Brent felt home calling to help care for his self-described “Best Friend” our mother, Phyllis, and father, Wayne.   Brent lived his remaining years seeking happiness with family and friends right here on the MS Gulf Coast.  The adventurer within continued to beacon Brent to the road, however he set out on a greater journey when God called him home.

Brent’s presence will be forever missed by those who were fortunate enough to call him friend.  Our family will never be the same.  He will always be in our hearts, in our minds, and if fortunate in our dreams, until we are reunited.  May his soul rest in eternal peace and may God’s light shine upon him.
