Brenda Taylor

January 7, 1953 — April 11, 2020

Biloxi

Brenda (Walters) Taylor, born on January 7th, 1953, in West Palm Beach, was the daughter of Raymond and Polly Walters.  Brenda attended Biloxi High School and lived in a variety of interesting places, including Japan, Guam, and Alaska, before returning home to Biloxi, MS.  Brenda had the good fortune to marry James “Jim” Taylor on August 13th, 1979.  Together, they enjoyed 40 years happily married and raised four children: Caroline, Suzanne, Sean, and Shelley.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, and her brother Ken.  Left behind to carry on her legacy are her beloved, twin sister Linda(Robin) Heady and her brother Larry(Kathy) Walters, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and her nieces and nephew.

Brenda was a respected member of the hospitality community and had a distinguished career in the service industry planning events for hotels and casinos. She received a variety of accolades over the years, including being featured in Gulf Coast Woman in their Success Showcase.  The hospitality industry was a natural fit for Brenda with her charm, cheery disposition, and exemplary customer-oriented attitude.  She forged many friendships and made a lasting impact on her colleagues and her customers, even after she retired as the Director of Sales from Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in July of 2018.  She was active in numerous community and professional organizations and was a longstanding member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Brenda appreciated time with family and friends and always welcomed loved ones into her home with a bright smile and a big hug.  Whether conversing over a cup of coffee or hosting game nights with family and close friends over the years, Brenda enjoyed the time making connections.

In addition to her accomplishments as a professional, wife, Mom, Aunt, Nana, and friend, Brenda had many other facets.  She was charismatic, with a seemingly effortless elegance and grace.  She had a vibrant personality, a fondness for butterflies, was an avid Barbie collector, and a devoted New Orleans Saints fan.  She appreciated music, whether listening, playing the organ, or singing with a choir and had an eye for style and design and enjoyed redecorating her home and making wreaths for family and friends.

She will be missed greatly by all.

The family would like to thank friends and caregivers for their support.  Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a celebration of Brenda’s life will be delayed and is currently scheduled for June 25th, 2020 from 5:00PM-7:00PM (subject to change) at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS 39531.
