Gulfport

Bobby Wayne Armstrong, 67, of Gulfport, MS, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 20, 2020.

He was born on May 17, 1953 in Calhoun County, MS to Mary and O.D. Armstrong. He and his brother, James, joined the U.S. Army at young ages, where Bobby served two years, part of which was being stationed at Fort Riley, KS. There, he met and married his wife of 47 years, Carol. They moved to the coast where Bobby was employed for a length of time at the USNMBC as a heavy equipment mechanic until an injury stopped him from working.

Bobby was passionate about his faith and a true believer in the Word of God which he freely shared with all who knew him. He loved hunting and fishing and was a very talented in being able to “fix things.”

Family and friends were most important to him, helping any way he was able. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, going fishing, going to ballgames and just having fun with them.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Mary John Armstrong; his father, Oliver Durwood Armstrong; and his daughter, Melissa Dione Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee Armstrong; daughter, Stacie Ann Prestwood (Curtis); son, Jeremy Chad Armstrong (Wendy); and daughter, Pamela Brooke Armstrong; grandchildren, Evan, Aaron, Clarie and Sarabeth Prestwood, Annalise, Aliza and Pace Armstrong; foster grandchild, Chris Watley; brothers, James Allen Armstrong (Ruth), Donny Ray Armstrong and Kenneth Lee Armstrong (Angie); sister, Bonnie Lynn Sharp (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Janice Warner (Guy); brother-in-law, Dale Foster (Jackie); many nieces, nephews, cousins and other living family members and friends.

Due to current circumstances, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
