Alfred Gaudet “Al” Hodges, age 45 of Pass Christian, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
Al was a sweet and gentle man with a kind heart. He was also tortured by low self-esteem and depression for which he medicated himself with drugs and alcohol for many years. The past two years, he lived in Pass Christian with his mother and was trying very hard to attain sobriety and become self-sufficient. He volunteered at King’s Kitchen and attended Central Bible Church in Bay St. Louis, where he found overwhelming love and acceptance.
He had a good sense of humor and loved to entertain people and make them laugh. He loved his nephew and nieces and was the instigator of a good deal of fun water balloon and hose fights in our yard when they came to visit. He worked so hard to do well and please everyone as best he could.
Al is survived by his mother, Mary “Meg” Gaudet Retersdorf; his sister, Jamie Hodges Moore; his nephew, Ian Moore; and his nieces, Lila and Vivian Moore.
It is greatly comforting to know that he is now at peace in Heaven with Jesus. But he will be sorely missed here on earth by those who knew and loved him so.
A private memorial service will be held at Central Bible Church, Bay St. Louis and the interment will be held at a later date at Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian.
