Yvette Marie Bernard Richard, 82, was born to Mose and Viola Shepherd Bernard in Crowley, Louisiana, on December 7, 1942. She went to be with the Lord, our Savior on Friday, August 22, 2025.
She had one brother, Eugene “Gene” Bernard (Barbara) who predeceased her on August 31, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Ray Richard; two sons, Barry Richard (Charlotte) and Jeff Richard (Cherie); one granddaughter, Justine Boos (Brad); and one great-granddaughter, Evie Boos. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Smith and Pam Ashford (Don); and a brother-in-law, Jody Richard.
She was primarily a stay-at-home mom with the exception of various positions in the insurance and legal fields, until 1979 when she opened an insurance agency in Metairie, LA., during which time she and Ray built a weekend home near Kiln, MS. After both her parents died within a 4-month period, she sold her agency and moved into the Mississippi House and engaged in a self-taught woodworking hobby while also opening a computer repair business and embarked upon computing instructor positions at USM’s, Diamondhead’s, and Hancock Co.’s Continuing Ed programs.
