Winfred Quarles

Winfred Quarles, 76, of Saucier, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Mississippi Veterans Home following a long battle with lung disease.
He was born July 9, 1939 in Ellijay, GA to Bunyan Quarles and Mary Ruth Cook Quarles. He was married on Sept. 24, 1961 to Jean Eaton of Marietta, GA.
He proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Air Force. During and after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, he gave many years of service to his community and church having served in various church positions, the Volunteer Fire Department, various school teaching positions, local political support positions and many coastal region outreach programs.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Quarles; two sons, Shawn (Kelly) Quarles of Canton, GA and Shad Quarles of Douglasville, GA; brother, Winston (Nancy) Quarles of Blue Ridge, GA; sister, Jeannie (Mike) Horton of Murphy, NC; sister in law, Joyce (David) Van Dyke of Dallas, GA; five Grandchildren, two nephews, two nieces, one aunt; one uncle and many cousins.
Winfred loved his community incredibly. He was a good steward and an exceptional mentor. He will be missed immensely. The family is comforted knowing that Winfred in now in God's loving arms.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Faithview Baptist Church in Saucier, MS.
