William Romley White, 66, died February 14, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. He was affectionately known by some as ""Skeeter."" Romley had an ability to see hope in the most devastating of circumstances. He walked out of his home in chest deep water during Katrina.
Romley loved sailing and being on the water. He sailed competitively with the Gulfport Yacht Club. He worked in various aspects of the Maritime Industry. Romley traveled the world during his lifetime but always returned to the Gulf Coast. He maintained friendships with people all along the Coast.
Romley was preceded in death by his parents, R. Bufkin White and Winifred ""Dick"" Welch White. He is survived by his ""Aunt Shim"" Mary Anise Welch Elam and ""Uncle Bill"" William C. ""Bill"" Elam currently of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by seven first cousins; J. William ""Bill"" Welch and Stephanie Welch Bass of Long Beach, Richard D. ""Dick"" Welch of Easton, MD, Priscilla Welch Hendren of Virginia Beach, VA, W. Timothy ""Tim"" Elam of Redmond, WA, J. Christopher ""Chris"" Elam of Jackson, MS, and Susan Anise Elam Hawley of Jacksonville, FL and many extended cousins.
The family will be Toasting the Life of Romley White at the Westside Community Center (4008 8th Street, Gulfport, MS) on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, from 3-5 PM. Friends are Welcome and Encouraged to join us for a Barq's, Romley's alternate favorite. Arrangements were handled by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport.
