William Scott Staples, 82, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Boyington Nursing Home Rehab Center in Gulfport, MS.
He was a native of Somersworth, NH and was a resident of Long Beach, MS. He received his GED and his AAS (Machine Tool Process). He retired as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1954-1975, HTC (DV),  Vietnam Era.  He loved the adventures the U.S. Navy diving career provided. He later worked and then retired from Moore's Business Forms as a machinist. Mr. Staples has received numerous U.S. Navy campaign awards and medals. He lived for the adventures of the outdoors life of hunting and fishing.
Mr. Staples was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America. The family of William S. Staples would like to thank the dedicated nurses & staff of the Boyington Nursing Rehab Center. Mr. Staples had been assigned to the Rehab for physical therapy several times over an extended period of many years and was a resident there for one year.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Germaine J. Staples; father, Walter S. Staples; mother, Cora F. Staples; and brother, Donald C. Staples. He is survived by his daughter, Sharlene S. Daniels (Ronald L.); his son, William S. Staples, Jr., ENCS (DVISS), USN, Ret. (Kathy A.); 3 grandchildren, Jeanene Stewart (Rubert), Angela M. Rideout (Tyler M.) and Briana L. Staples (Kyle M. Malenfant, fiance'); great-grandchild, Morgan A. Dedeaux (Daz A., LCPL, USMC); great-great-grandchild, Avery - Acel Dedeaux; his nephew, Donald Staples; and his cousin, Gayle A. Irving (Wayne R.).
A Memorial Service and burial will be held in Dover, NH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Disable Veterans of America ( www.dav.org ).
