William Shavers

William D. "Sonny" Shavers, age 87, of Long Beach, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Shavers; daughter; Paula Gail Shavers; grandson, Christopher Dale Alexander; and granddaughter, Cassandra Nicole Alexander; son-in-law, Edward Muesall, Sr.; parents, Tilton and Georgian Shavers; and his siblings, Jim Shavers, Willie Cuevas, Ethel Barrale, Helen Ladner, and Elizabeth Mason.
Survivors include his children, Debra Muesall, Michael W. Shavers, Cynthia Ann McGovern, Wanda (Adela Gutierrez) Roberts, Dorothy Jean (Lee) Jackson, and Dianna Marie Alexander; a sister, Ella Mae Ladner; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Shavers served 2 terms in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and he joyed fishing, singing, boiling crawfish, and cooking breakfast.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 6 - 9 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
