William "Bill" Raymond, Sr., age 80, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 in Samburg, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Raymond and Vernette Borries Raymond; one son, Kevin Raymond; one daughter, Tracy Raymond Speed; two brothers, Elvin Raymond, Melvin Raymond; and one sister, Judy Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Marie Stanley Raymond; four children, Shirley Lovelace (Mark Mclendon), Lisa Raymond, Michelle Peters (Robert), and William Raymond (Sammy Beaugez), all of Biloxi, MS; four grandchildren, Brandon Peters (Stephanie) of Mobile, AL; Kathryn Peters of Baton Rouge, LA, Paulina Nguyen of Biloxi, MS, and Raini Stroker of Biloxi, MS; and three great-grandchildren, Paityn Peters, of Pascagoula, MS, Makensie Steele of Mobile, AL, and Makayla Steele of Mobile, AL.
Mr. Raymond was a native of D'Iberville/ St. Martin and a resident of Biloxi. He was honorably discharged from the Mississippi Army National Guard, retired from self-employment as a contractor, was past Director of Public Works for the City of Biloxi, and achieved the City of Biloxi Retired Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Biloxi Mullet Brigade. He was also a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi.
The family would like to express love and appreciation to his friends and fishing buddies: Harold Windom and Joe Langlinais.
The family requests memorial donations to Our Lady of Fatima Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Biloxi, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until the mass at the church. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
