MSgt. William (Bill) Orr, USAF Ret., age 90, passed away February 23, 2013, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born August 7, 1922, in Hattiesburg. As a WWII veteran in North Africa, he performed duties as a B-25 Bomber flight crew member and he received many honors and medals. After retirement from the military, Mr. Orr worked for Emerson Electric, St. Louis, Missouri for 15 years where he was Publications Engineer. He and his wife moved to Pass Christian in 1993.
Mr. Orr enjoyed many hobbies. His favorite was painting beautiful pictures. He wrote poems, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved spending time in his shop making windmills and birdhouses. One of his most recent and fondest memories was when he went to Delisle Elementary School this past fall and spoke with the 4th graders there about WWII. All eyes were on him as he spoke of the fascinating stories during that time. This WWII veteran left a lasting impression on those children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Self Orr and a son, Barry Orr.
