William Edward Murphy, Jr.

William Edward (Pete) Murphy, Jr. born December 1, 1940 in Ackerman, MS, passed away January 1, 2026 in Gulfport, MS surrounded by family. He served in the Army prior to starting his own a/c business.  When he closed his business he worked off shore as a mechanic and chef.  After he retired he moved back to Ackerman, MS and purchased a 42 acre farm where he grew blueberries.  He was a gifted person.  He could do electrical, plumbing, construction work, as well automotive repairs. He was very active until his resent illness that led to his death.

He was preceded in death by his Father William Edward Murphy Sr,  his Mother Victoria Blain Murphy,  his twin brothers, Harry Murphy and Larry Murphy.

Pete loved to travel with his wife. In the short 12 years of their marriage he traveled extensively to include over 40 cruises.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Clara Murphy. Their love radiated so that every one could see the happiness they shared. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Lanclos (Jim), a niece, Staci Duff (Glen), a nephew, Blain Murphy, a nephew, Michael Murphy and seven step children, Scott Fowler (Cindy), Paula Manning (Arthur), Jeff Thornton (Janet), Mark Thornton, Lance Thornton (Missy), Aaron Thornton, Brandon Thornton, and several step grandchildren all of whom he loved as his own children.
