William Brooks Mosley

d. July 9, 2025

Long Beach

William Brooks Mosley Jr. (1963-2025) passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by his friends and family in New Orleans, Louisiana. While William was his given name, one name simply couldn’t describe the many roles he played in the lives of the people he loved during his 61 years on this earth.

To his childhood friends, he was “Bird.” A nickname his skinny legs and broad chest earned him.

To his wife of 30 years, Lisa Botwinick Mosley (and all of her friends) he was Billy. Unless he was in trouble, then he was BILL MOSLEY. It is fair to say he heard both of these names equally, and they were very interchangeable.

To his daughter Candice Patterson (Jarred) and son Josh Mosley (Chelsea), he was Dad. The role that undoubtedly put him to work the most. On any given weekend this role could have him pressure washing, moving furniture, or painting a house (because no one else could do it the right way). This was his very favorite title until about 9 years ago when his first grandchild was born.

He was most proud to be called Pops. The name he was given by his “punky” (Kate Patterson), “buckshot” (John Ellis Patterson), “little angel” (Annie Patterson), and his sweet, bashful Mia Lisa Mosley.

He was a loving brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. He loved ZZ top, Donald Trump, French onion dip with ruffles, Jazz Fest, fishing, and Ole Miss football. Not necessarily in that order.

He was never afraid of hard work and was also never afraid to take the lead in any project. He was just stubborn enough to refuse to fail. He finished his career as the Site Superintendent at IPL Industrial Services. He found immense pride in his 38-year career with IPL, particularly in the opportunity to work with and for his long-time friend, Dale Smith.

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lisa Botwinick Mosley; his parents, Virnelle “Nell” Carlisle Mosley Chambers and William “Bill” Brooks Mosley Sr; his sister; Angela Mosley Sing; beloved grandparents; Harvey Carlise and Thelma Winter Mosley McDaniel. Bill is survived by his sister Ann “Sissi” Mosley LeDoux.
