William Meadows

April 25, 1940 — August 31, 2025

Biloxi

William Meadows, aka “Pop” born April 25, 1940 in Carrollton, KY passed away August 31, 2025 in Biloxi, MS surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanelle Sumrall Meadows; his mother, Lutisha Meadows Andrews; two brothers; Coty Meadows and Wayne Douglas Meadows.

William is survived by one son, C.V. Meadows and his wife Angela Meadows of Biloxi, MS along with 3 grandchildren: Cody (Tayler) Meadows from Nashville, TN, Caley Grimstead of Biloxi, MS and Austin (Shelby) Grimstead from Vancleave, MS; as well as 4 great grandchildren: Saylor Grace, Brooks, Rhett, and Stetson (who will be on his way soon).

He relocated to Biloxi, MS in 1961 after enlistment in the Air Force and there he met and married Jeanelle Sumrall Meadows from Ellisville, MS in 1964. They remained married for 54 years until her passing in 2018.

Pop served a total of 37 years of government service including 21 years active duty Air Force and 16-year civil service at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. During his military and government service time, he served in over 13 different countries before he retired.

After all his travel, his most favorite place was anywhere in the marsh in the Southern Gulf. Pop was well known for his bass fishing and duck hunting here locally and at his camp in Reggio, LA; where he met numerous friends that he considered family. Pop loved his family deeply and before his passing, his daughter-in-law Angela Meadows was his most favorite person, and he told everyone he met that she was his true-life angel. Also, one of his last requests was to be cremated with his old LSU hat and holding a picture of his first great granddaughter Saylor Grace, who he bonded with from the moment she was born.

Pop would not want family and friends to mourn his loss but celebrate his life as he lived it to its fullest. Please, if possible, wear brightly colored clothing preferably his favorite LSU colors of purple and gold.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS.

A private celebration of life for both William “Pop” and Jeanelle “Grandma Nell” aka “Mama Meadows” as her students called her will be held after ceremony.
