William Thomas "Bill" McCollister, age 77, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
Bill was a native of Pass Christian, Mississippi. He earned a BS degree from Southern Mississippi and from Mississippi State. He was in the United States Navy serving on the USS Forrestal from 1958 to 1962. Mr. McCollister was a D'Iberville physics and biology teacher, where he received the outstanding young educator award in 1973. He later worked in the human resources at Dupont in Delisle. Bill had many hobbies including tennis, golf, fencing, and painting. He was a volunteer at the D'Lepee deaf center and was a former board member at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Mr. McCollister is preceded in death by his Parents Anderson Thomas McCollister and Jean McCollister; and his sister, Caroline Quintona.
Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Vicki McCollister; his son Andrew Thomas McCollister; his siblings, Betty Beary, Peggy (Tom) Vogt, Jeannie ( John) Dubuisson; his grandchildren, Andrew Thomas McCollister, Jr. and Asher Lee McCollister.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HHOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from noon until the service. Burial with military honors will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
