William ""Bill"" Hughes, Jr., 53, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in New Orleans.
Bill, a resident of Biloxi, was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama but was raised in Hattiesburg. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He also received a Master of Science degree in Quality System Management. He worked for 28 years with Aerojet Rocketdyne at Stennis Space Center as an Instrumentation and Data Systems Manager. Bill was a member of Troop 007, University Baptist Church, and an Eagle Scout. He also served on staff at the Glorieta Baptist Conference Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi and was a ECE Advisory Board Member at MSU.
Bill loved hiking, traveling and going on mission trips; and spending as much time as possible with his grandsons. He was blessed to have many friends and family praying for him during his illness. He would want people to know that he was a follower of Christ and loved to serve whenever he could.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Hughes; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William E. Hughes, Sr. (Nancy); children, Emily and Josh Williams and Amber Parker; siblings, Tom Hughes (Melinda) and David Hughes (Emilee); and grandsons, Hudson Williams and Brody Williams.
Friends are invited to join the Hughes family on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1560 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with the Memorial Service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either: First Baptist Church, Biloxi - Mike Brackin Mission Mobilization Scholarship Fund or to First Baptist Church, Gulfport - In Memory of Bill Hughes for Missions.
