Memorial services for William Scott Guinn, of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road (Hwy 165 North), Monroe, Louisiana, at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2025. Scott was a retired banker and charter fishing boat captain.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Moss Sartor Guinn; his sister, Jane Guinn Jones and her husband Bobby Jones; his mother-in-law, Olive M. Sartor; brothers-in-law, D. Ryan Sartor III and his wife, Cayce Sartor, and Walter M. Sartor and his wife, Susan Sartor; his nieces, Katherine Sartor Flowers and her husband, Cruse B. Flowers, Diane Sartor Raymond and her husband Alex Raymond, Adelaide Sartor and her fiancé Emma Millard, and Lucy Hubbs Sartor; nephews, Walter M. Sartor, Jr., and Robert Jones; his great-nephews, Cruse B. Flowers, Jr., Arthur P. Raymond and Grayson S. Raymond; and his great-niece, Katherine R. Flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Walker Guinn and Mary Gordon Estopinal Guinn, and his father-in-law, D. Ryan Sartor, Jr.
Scott was a native of Greenwood, Mississippi, and graduated from Pillow Academy. He also attended and graduated from the University of Mississippi with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a banker with Hancock Bank and Merchants Marine Bank, both in Gulfport, Mississippi, and later captained several charter fishing boats in Gulfport.
Scott’s love of hunting developed in his high school years in the Mississippi Delta, and he fell in love with fishing and boating in the Mississippi Sound when visiting his grandparents and upon moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a young man. He captained many vessels, but his favorites were the High Tide, the PJ and the Miss Moss. Upon relocating to Northeast Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, he renewed his love for hunting with friends in the Hurricane Hunting Club in Richland Parish.
Scott was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport and attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe and the Alto Presbyterian Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert H. Walker, Alan M. Jones, Sherwood R. Bailey, Jr., Donald E. Halle, George R. Boddie, William G. McGhee, William P. Wessler, J. Wesley Ambrose, Logan Morris, Jordan Morris, Clayton Morris, Brennan Morris, Terry Doughty, John Lowery and Dakin Hines.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, from noon to 2:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Hwy 165 North, Monroe, Louisiana.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport, Mississippi, under the direction of Riemann Family Funeral Homes at 2:00 on Friday, February 20, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mississippi Children’s Home, 1465 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS 39216.
