Wilbern Parker, 89, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016.
Wilbern was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs and a native of Beaumont, MS. He was a graduate of Beaumont High School and received a bachelor degree from William Carey College. He served in the US Army during WWII and the US Air Force in Vietnam. He retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of service and traveled to Asia, Africa, Europe and many other places during his service.
He was a warm and caring soul who was always happy to see you and engage in conversation. He enjoyed being at home, making the garage sale circuit, gardening and repairing whatever needed fixing. His pride and joy was his family, and he was a tremendous provider, always doing without for himself, so that others could have what they needed. He will leave a huge void in the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by a son, James W. ""Jamey"" Parker; his parents Archie and Daisy Parker; and his brothers, Lois, Luke, Willard, and Otis Dee Parker.
His sweet and kind spirit will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Harvison Parker; his daughters, Deborah (Donnie) Fremin, and Marlene Taylor; his son, Murray Simmons; and his grandchildren, Ashley (Lars) Rundberg, and Matthew Taylor.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Arlington Baptist Church in Beaumont, MS.
