Wendell Lewis Ward, age 94, a life-long resident of Long Beach, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Russ Ward; and his parents, Jesse and Bessie Ward.
Wendell is survived by his children, Ted Ward (Alice), Lynn Fishman, and Ken Ward all of Long Beach; his siblings, Wayne Ward (Marie) and Joyce McCauley (Sam) both of Long Beach; his grandchildren, Blake Ward of Madison, Jeffrey Ward of Gulfport, Mason Sharp and Randall Sharp both of Long Beach; and his five great-grandchildren.
Wendell earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany, was a POW and a Purple Heart recipient. He retired from Keesler Air Force Base Civil Service and became an avid fisherman. Wendell was a member of the Long Beach Presbyterian Church.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERALHOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Burial will follow in Napolean Cemetery.
