Waymon Martin Carr, age 77, entered the kingdom of heaven peacefully on July 14, 2022. He was born in Memphis, TN on October 2, 1944, and spent many years of his life in Bay St. Louis, MS. He had been a resident of Long Beach, MS since 1973 and was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Waymon is survived by his daughter, Sandy Carr of Hattiesburg, MS; daughter Julie (Johnny) Brian of Cleveland, TN; son Barry (Carmella) Touart; and grandchilden, Matthew Cole Wayne, William Mark Wayne, and Audrey Kay Shattles. He is also survived by 3 sisters,  Martha Lawson, Lillian (Ken) Hartgrove, and Cynthia Brunet; one brother Bart (Gail) Carr; and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Waymon was a graduate of St. Stanislaus and excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. He attended Pearl River Community College and later went on to work for Stennis Space Center. He retired in 2004 from BCMA Federal Government Agency. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud father and grandfather. He would tell you that the happiest days of his life, were the days his children, and his granddaughter, Audrey was born. He was always the first to arrive to an event, and the last to leave. He could always be found watching the game or hanging out in the kitchen waiting for another plate. Friends and family have always known him as “the funny guy,” cracking jokes and making everyone feel gathered and welcomed. To know Waymon, was to love him. He was the kindest man with such a loving soul. His life on Earth was a blessing to so many, and he will be missed immensely.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the  Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach, MS on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10-11am and burial to follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
