Warren Houston Cox, Jr., age 87, of Biloxi, passed away on December 31, 2013 in Biloxi. Warren was a WWII veteran and a member of the underwater demolition unit now known as the Navy Seals. After returning from Pearl Harbor with an honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for 30 years for Railway Express and the Railroad and then another 10 at Ingalls in Pascagoula helping to upgrade Navy ships, where he retired. He was a hobby craftsman and loved woodworking. He will be remembered for his infamous lollypop tree as well as his candy dispensers, bird feeders and Whirligigs. Warren was a light that shone ever so brightly on this earth which was witnessed by everyone who knew him. He will be missed yet celebrated each day.
Warren is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marguerite Haydel Cox of Biloxi, his two daughters, Susan Provencher and Donnalee Baudry both of Oregon, four grandchildren, Erica Kay of New York, Matthew and Christopher Provencher of Oregon and Devon Fox of California. He is also the proud great-grandparent to Kimmie and Sofie Kaye of New York. His only son, Eric Douglas Cox, died in 2011 in Atlanta.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 8th, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi beginning at 8:15 AM with a Mass following at 9 AM and burial at Biloxi National Cemetery after conclusion of Mass. A reception will be held at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall.
